Iris Brannan, Editor and Founder

In what now feels like another lifetime, I once had to learn how to manage postnatal anxiety, daily panic attacks and OCD symptoms - all while navigating new motherhood. It was lonely, overwhelming and I had to figure out how to help myself. I created the Luella and Rose community to help other women experience better.

I've since retrained in mental health nursing, a role that has reinforced my understanding of the huge importance of widely-available mental health education. It also shapes what I want from Luella and Rose, which is for this to be a space that feels safe, empowering and offers you practical support.

I'll leave you with this: you are strong - stronger than you know, possibly - and worthy of all kinds of wonderful things. I hope you don't ever forget it.

Luella and Rose is a collection of resources, personal narratives, commissioned articles and trustworthy information, gathered to facilitate conversations and introspection about women's mental health issues. There's an enormous difference between mental health (which we all have and it fluctuates) and mental illness (which is either diagnosed or diagnosable); we talk about both here.

It's also a community. This is why you'll often see members' details or personal projects linked. We hope you'll use these links to form connections or further explore a certain topic.
